I just wanted to start off by introducing myself to all of you. My name is Rosario and I am the Regional Director of Africa at JumpTV. As the son of immigrants to America I have grown up keenly aware of the adversity faced by immigrants and their children. Life isn't always easy when you struggle to understand two languages, two cultures, and so on. JumpTV is my passion. It allows me to provide a service to people who may have taken the biggest risk of their lives by coming to an unknown land to live out a dream. Whether for economic reasons or for reasons that you cannot control, its not an simple task to leave what you have known your whole life and start a new adventure, a downright frightening experience at times. But you should never forget what you are! Be it Ugandan , Ethiopian, Nigerian, or Sicilian (in the case of your noble author), you cannot allow yourself to abandon your soul. Now with JumpTV , you don't have to. There is no longer any excuse about not being involved or informed about your homeland. JumpTV eliminates this so you have only yourself to blame.
I have traveled the planet extensively. I have been in places and situations that can be described as less than desirable. But these experiences have shaped who I am and I would not give them up for anything. Learning about other cultures and people assist you in learning about yourself. Feelings that you never knew existed will be riled up. My colleagues at JumpTV speak over 26 collective languages, represent every continent on this earth (excepting Antarctica, but we are looking into the retention of some very intelligent penguins provided that they can put up with the balmy NY summers), and teach me sometime new every day.
So here is my challenge to you: teach me. Reach out to me, tell me what you would like JumpTV to broadcast. How can I improve the experience for you? What is your personal story? Help us build a community that you want to see. Take another risk...be a part of another adventure. Reignite the fire that is burning inside of you. Shout atop rooftops until everyone hears you. Here is your chance to educate others on your culture. But I don't have to tell you all this, do I my fellow adventurer? You haven't forgot that feeling of euphoria, have you? Remember the control(ler) is in your hands...
And remember my friends: there will be no reruns, the REVOLUTION WILL BE LIVE.

This is good Rosario! Indeed the revolution will live forever.

PAUL ROBESON AWARD INITIATIVE
www.PRAI.us
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The FESPACO Paul Robeson Award Initiative (PRAI) presents "The Best of the Best" films and videos in the African Diaspora, to Pan African Film & Television Festivals throughout the world. FESPACO of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is the biennial film festival, at which PRAI premieres the “Best of the Best” Films from the African Diaspora.
Our purpose is two-fold:
I PRAI enables the timely processing of film submissions to FESPACO, by soliciting and curating films from the African Diaspora that are qualified for consideration of the coveted Diaspora Prize -- the Paul Robeson Award.
II Once PRAI has made the selections and the winners established, by FESPACO, the PRAI strategic focus changes to become a distribution network, for current winners and archived films of the “Best of the Best” Films from the African Diaspora series. We are establishing affiliations with broadcast, festival and online programming outlets for such purpose.
The strategic focus is on FESPACO. It is our intent to assist in the efforts of the organizers of Burkina Faso to make FESPACO the quintessential awards program, for all African related cinematic offerings. We embrace the fact that Paul Robeson is one of the most visible, influential and admired artists, in history. His accomplishments as an actor, linguist, cultural scholar, international activist, author and sports legend brought him worldwide acclaim; and, we join in on the honoring of his contributions, by entitling our endeavor, the Paul Robeson Award Initiative. Many consider Mr. Robeson’s immense talents to be, "the Best of the Best" and so do we.
PRAI OBJECTIVES
I. To assess films and television productions, by collaborating with existing Diasporic Pan African and international film & television festivals, independent filmmakers and African film enthusiasts to acquire submissions to the “Best of the Best” archive.
II. To score by judging each submission not only on the technical and artistic qualities, but on the content of the message. The chosen films must adhere to the standards set by Paul Robeson, in being the best of the best. Therefore, we score each submission based on whether, or not, it indeed upholds the proper image of Africans and the Diaspora, by presenting clear images of respect, love, tolerance; as well as, examples of how to uphold and build a better society through the demonstration of enlightened people doing what they do best shine their “little light” on relevant issues and events, for the world to appreciate and enjoy!
III. To deliver such films for final judging determination to FESPACO officials, in consideration of the Diaspora Prize, i.e., the Paul Robeson Award.
We are actively pursuing programming entities that would be favorable to our efforts and thereby partner with our efforts to program the “Best of the Best” series on their networks. I urge your comment and suggestions in this regard, as it still takes a village…the Diasporian Community, to make the endeavor to supply positive and constructive programming of and about Africans, become a reality worldwide!
One Aim…
